On Monday afternoon, a list of charges against former President Donald Trump briefly appeared on the website of the Fulton County, Georgia court, then suddenly disappeared after a short time.

The charges, stemming from Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election, include conspiracy, forgery, racketeering, and making false statements — but the document appeared before the grand jury hearing the case had even returned a ruling.

The document dated August 14 lays out 13 separate charges against Trump. On top of 12 felony counts, the former president is also charged with one “serious felony” for Violation of The Georgia RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act.

The document was deleted from the website without explanation shortly after it began circulating, leaving it unclear whether this was an unintentional leak or a deliberate publication.

Just one month after Donald Trump’s January 2021 phone call to suggest Georgia’s secretary of state could overturn his election loss, Willis announced she was looking into possibly illegal “attempts to influence” the results. The case against Trump is being prosecuted by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Willis’ office alleges that in the weeks after the 2020 election, Trump knowingly pushed the false narrative that he had won and pressured Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to disregard the legitimate results. Willis further accuses Trump of planning to appoint an alternative slate of electors, leading to charges against 12 Trump allies for “coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections.”

While an indictment in this case has been expected by Trump’s team for some time, the grand jury has yet to vote on the issue and witness testimony is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The publication of these charges ahead of the jury’s decision has raised significant questions about the fairness of the process, but a representative from Willis’ office said an initial Reuters report that charges had been filed was “inaccurate.” However, security around the courthouse has been hardened in the last two weeks, with barricades and police K-9 units indicating that court officials are expecting a contested decision to be made shortly.

Should the grand jury vote to indict former President Trump, it would be his fourth indictment in less than five months. Valuetainment previously reported, Trump is also under federal indictment for his efforts to overturn the election results and his mishandling of classified documents, as well as a New York State indictment for falsifying business records.
