Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn released a statement on Thursday calling the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory a “major psyop” that is doing a disservice to the American people. The retired Lt. General, who has previously been accused of taking a “loyalty oath” to QAnon, denounced the theory and called its implications about the US Military “banana republic” behavior.
Gen. Flynn, who served as former President Donald Trump’s National Security Adviser for 22 days in 2017, has long been accused of being a QAnon adherent. The pervasive political conspiracy theory was popularized by an unidentified individual or group of individuals known as “Q” on the website 4chan.
Q claimed to be a high-ranking government official with security clearance and access to classified documents. In late 2017, Q began uploading “drops” of information about a shadow campaign being waged against President Trump by a cabal of cannibalistic pedophiles and Satanists within the political and cultural elite. Q predicted that the Trump administration was preparing for mass arrests and executions of the perpetrators…but that effort was thwarted by the corrupt 2020 election process.
QAnon adherents played a major part in the movement to challenge the results of the 2020 election, which led to them being labeled an extremist cult. Gen. Flynn, a supporter of Trump’s election challenge, was believed to be involved with a segment of the US Military that still considers the former president the duly elected commander-in-chief. This idea was compounded by a video from Flynn posted on July 4, 2020—several months before the election—in which he led a group of people in an oath to defend the Constitution.

The final line “Where we go one, we go all” has served as a rallying cry for QAnon members for years. However, Trump attorney Sidney Powell, who also represented Flynn, argued that the slogan was in reference to an engraved bell on President John F. Kennedy’s sailboat “acknowledging the unity of mankind.” Flynn has since distanced himself from QAnon…but that has not stopped rumors of his continued association with it behind closed doors.

During a recent appearance on the right-wing podcast “The X22 Report,” Flynn strongly denied the possibility of secret military activities directed on behalf of former President Trump, leading to a heated debate with “Dave,” the show’s anonymous host. Flynn strongly disagreed with his host’s opinion, arguing that the US Military cannot simply go rogue on behalf of one man. The military must abide by the Constitution or else the United States risks becoming a “banana republic.”
In an X post responding to an analysis of the video by user and content creator UltraMJTruth, Flynn further clarified his position. “Here’s my take on Q…I believe it is a major psyop and from what I can tell, it or they or whatever or whoever is ‘running this op’ has done a major disservice,” Flynn wrote. “What I see are a bunch of people sitting and waiting for something to happen instead of doing what I have been calling for now for quite some time (LOCAL ACTION).”
“Like it or not (I don’t), we have a person in the WH that is there following a constitutional process…note I didn’t say fair election (which I don’t believe occurred),” the retired general continued.

Since the 2020 election, Michael Flynn has prioritized local action to counteract the damage inflicted by the Biden administration and remains a supporter of Donald Trump.
