New Year’s Eve festivities in New Orleans, Louisiana, erupted into chaos on Tuesday night when a man rammed his pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street, leaving 10 dead and dozens more injured.

The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was reportedly affiliated with ISIS, as indicated by the ISIS flag found in the vehicle, and the FBI is now investigating the incident as a terrosit attack.

After the vehicular assault, Jabbar engaged in a shootout with police, resulting in his death and injuries to two officers.

The FBI is treating the incident as an act of terrorism and is investigating Jabbar’s potential connections to terrorist organizations, seeking to determine if Jabbar acted alone or had accomplices. Authorities note that weapons and potential explosive devices were also discovered at the scene.

Archbishop Gregory Aymond and other officials have offered prayers and support to the victims and their families.

The attack has drawn parallels with a similar incident in Germany involving a Saudi Arabian immigrant.
