Anthony Fauci, the former Chief Medical Advisor to the President, said he does not personally see the need for church or organized religion as he believes his “personal ethics” are enough.
Dr. Fauci was being interviewed by BBC host Katty Kay as part of her show, “Influential with Katty Kay.”
Fauci and Kay were walking through a Catholic Church when Fauci pointed out the chapel where he and his wife were married in 1985. “Do you still go there?” Kay asked. “No,” Fauci replied. She then asked why he doesn’t practice anymore, and proceeded to press Fauci to answer her question after he dismissively said, “a number of complicated reasons.”
“First of all,” Fauci began, “I think my own personal ethics in life are enough to keep me going on the right path. And I think there are enough negative aspects about the organizational church that you are very well aware of.”
“I’m not against it,” Fauci insisted, “I identify myself as a Catholic, I was raised, I was baptized, I was confirmed, I was married in the Church, my children were baptized in the Church. But as far as practicing it, it seems almost like a pro forma thing that I don’t really need to do.”

In the full video available on YouTube, Fauci also discusses his work during the AIDS crisis, why he left the U.S. government to become a professor, and how threats to his security obstruct his daily life.
Kay also posted the clip to Instagram on Saturday, which received a torrent of negative comments.
“The arrogance of man is truly a sight to see. Thou shall worship lord Fauci because he ended up being wrong about everything. It’s science!!!!” one user wrote. “Omg this man should be arrested,” wrote another. Many other users praised him for the service he performed for the United States, commending him for successfully navigating the pandemic.
From a FOIA request of Fauci’s emails that was granted in September, it was confirmed that Fauci was in fact aware as early as January 2020 that the U.S. was funding coronavirus research in Wuhan. According to a spokesperson for a House subcommittee on the pandemic, this is especially troubling because the Wuhan laboratory was widely known to conduct gain-of function-research. In other words, Fauci had plenty of evidence that COVID-19 could have been a man-made disease intentionally engineered to be stronger and more transmissible, and was then released from a lab, even as he routinely rejected the possibility that it was the result of a lab leak.
Furthermore, the Select Subcomittee released concrete proof later in September that Fauci was directly involved in the CIA’s suppression of the lab leak narrative.
