The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the 2024 World Series title on Wednesday night, defeating the New York Yankees 7-6 in a dramatic Game 5 comeback after trailing 5-0. This victory marks the Dodgers’ eighth championship and their first since 2020.
Key players included Walker Buehler, who secured the win in relief, and Freddie Freeman, who was named World Series MVP with 12 RBIs.
The Dodgers celebrated wildly at Yankee Stadium and plan a victory parade back in Los Angeles. The team’s success was buoyed by the high expectations surrounding Shohei Ohtani, who had an exceptional season with 54 home runs and 59 steals.
In the aftermath, celebrities and fans alike took to social media to celebrate the Dodgers’ historic win, and Los Angeles residents took to the streets en masse.

The Los Angeles Police Department issued dispersal orders and made multiple arrests for burglary and failure to disperse. Despite the unrest, a citywide tactical alert was canceled the following day, with police continuing to patrol affected areas.
The Dodgers still plan to hold a celebratory parade starting at Gloria Molina Grand Park, which will culminate in downtown Los Angeles. Authorities continue to investigate the night’s events to ensure safety during the upcoming parade celebrations.
