Pro-Palestine protesters at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) breached security fences on Monday afternoon, with reports indicating that protestors used smoke bombs and threw things at police while confronting security.

In videos circulating on social media, protestors can be seen waving Palestinian flags and holding a sign that says, “End all US military aid to Israel” while some work to remove a metal security fence.

One report indicates that four protesters were arrested after a confrontation with law enforcement.

Demonstrations began Sunday with a peaceful march along Michigan Avenue and are planned to continue throughout the week. The Coalition to March on the DNC expects up to 100,000 participants, including students and progressive activists who demand an end to US aid to Israel and enhanced reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who is set to accept the Democratic nomination, faces criticism from activists demanding substantive policy changes over political rhetoric.
