Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit in New York on Wednesday, accusing Nexstar Media Inc., which owns NewsNation, and several other individuals of fabricating and spreading false claims about possessing videos of him involved in sexual assaults, damaging his reputation and potentially affecting his right to a fair trial.

Courtney Burgess appeared on NewsNation and other networks claiming he had incriminating evidence against Diddy.

In addition to Nexstar, Combs’ lawsuit names Courtney Burgess, who gave grand jury testimony against the disgraced music mogul, as well as his attorney, Ariel Mitchell. Diddy accuses all parties involved of “fueling a media frenzy, fabricating outlandish claims and stirring up baseless speculation” with Burgess’ appearance on NewsNation.

“In this pitiful spectacle, all pretense of objectivity has been abandoned, as a global audience feasts at the all-you-can-eat buffet of wild lies and conspiracy theories,” the legal filing states. “Defendants are among the worst perpetrators in this offensive scenario. They eagerly court every opportunity to broadcast blatant falsehoods, pretending they have proof that Mr. Combs engaged in heinous acts, knowing that no such proof exists.”

The lawsuit contends these accusations are baseless and intended for financial gain, with Burgess claiming he received the tapes from Kim Porter, Combs’ late ex-partner.

“Because no such tapes exist, and because Mitchell never saw any video depicting Mr. Combs sexually abusing anyone, adult or minor, Mitchell’s many false assertions that Burgess possessed such videos were either knowingly blatant falsehoods or recklessly false statements made as the direct result of Mitchell’s inexcusable failure to investigate her client’s outrageous lies,” the lawsuit continues.

Combs’ legal team has refuted these allegations as false and offensive, criticizing NewsNation for broadcasting the claims without adequate verification.

Combs is currently awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which he denies.
