Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) visited an LGBTQ group and thanked them for its work and discussed the local resources they provide for children. These include lessons on masturbation, witchcraft, a “transdiscovery” group for 11-year-olds, the Free Beacon reported.

Our Center Reno, a self-described “LGBTQIA+ community center,” also hosts meetings of the Northern Nevada chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) according to website. Our Center offers “free gender-affirming haircuts” for transgender children, “free legal advice” for those seeking gender transition surgery, and “drag queen story hour.”

The group’s programs also include strange classes on topics such as “Queer Pagan Exploration” on witchcraft and pentagrams.

In her tweet about meeting with the group, Rosen claimed they “do so much” for the Nevada “LGBTQ+ community” during a time when “LGBTQ+ rights are under attack.” She did not specify which rights these were, nor who was attacking them.

Our Center Reno offers an “intensive” summer study group with the “Scarleteen” curriculum found to be so extreme that a Nevada school board banned it several years ago. It is said to contain lessons on masturbation, which it encourages children to engage in, as well as messaging about anal sex in a lecture on abstinence, among other things. The masturbation guide which is titled “How Do You Masturbate?” includes recommendations that “pre-orgasmic people” and “younger” people have “a daily masturbation session, over at least several weeks.”

Scarleteen publishes another guide for children titled “The Transmasculine Flow,” which offers elective hysterectomies to help those looking to “affirm their gender.” Scarleteen’s online forum allows children as young as 13, and possibly younger, to ask questions about such topics. A Scarleteen staff member answered a 14-year-old girl’s question about a “diaper” and feces “fetish,” replying with a guide called the “Sex Readiness Checklist.”

It is unclear if and unlikely that Rosen knew the full extent of activities the group and its affiliates produce. But the fact that a sitting U.S. Senator can meet with such fringe groups having done no due-diligence without any media pushback reveals the utter one-sidedness of the current media climate. It would be inexcusable for an elected official, even at a local level, to meet with groups involved in other controversial issues, such as groups that are deemed “racist” or religiously intolerant.

Rosen was elected to the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections and is up for re-election in 2024. She defeated incumbent Sen. Dean Heller (R) in a battleground race. Rosen describes herself as a “fierce defender of women’s reproductive health rights, as well as LGBTQ+ rights and voting rights” on her website.

Republicans are eager to oust the Senator and win a seat for the GOP. So far, several figures have already announced their campaigns against her: retired Army Capt. Sam Brown, former U.S. ambassador to Iceland Jeff Gunter, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Tony Grady, and former Nevada Secretary of State candidate Jim Marchant.
