Police departments in California put out a warning to parents after four children ate THC-infused pieces of candy given out at a Halloween school event.
The Alameda Police Department told parents on Monday to “exercise extra caution and inspect your child’s Halloween candy” while they conducted an investigation.
The school in question was Amelia Earhart Elementary School in Alameda, CA, and the event was called “Trunk or Treat.” It was held on Sunday and the child who ingested the treat was sent to seek immediate medical help.

“Their parents checked the candy that the student received at the event and found the wrapper which says right on it that it’s cannabis infused,” said Susan Davis, an organizer for the school district who spoke to FOX2 KTVU.
The candies were packaged in a blue wrapper and labeled “Lost Farm Cannabis-Infused Fruit Chews.”
“We urge all families to sort through their child’s candy generally this week,” said Davis, in the warning note to parents. “Please know that we are working quickly to determine the source of this candy and if other children received it.”
An Alameda parent said they got emailed from the principal and multiple phone calls from everyone involved.
“So far we have done some interviews with different staff members people who were at the event.” said Alameda Police Chief Nishant Joshi, “Our goal is to figure out how this occurred and whether there was malicious intent, was it an accident and how can we prevent this from happening again.”
