Alex Soros, the son of billionaire financier and infamous left-wing donor George Soros, posted an article on X which aimed to challenge the narrative that cities with Democratic governments have worse crime rates.
This issue is particularly dear to the Soros family, who since 2015 have endeavored to overhaul America’s criminal justice system at the local level. As a result, many progressive district attorneys—whose campaigns, well-padded with Soros dollars, easily triumphed over conservative opponents working with small-dollar donations—have implemented radically lenient methods of policing, allowing repeat offenders in crimes like theft, assault, and even murder to receive light punishments, if any at all.
“Where Are Murder Rates Actually Higher? Not in progressive cities,” Soros wrote. The article essentially attempts to argue that crime levels in Florida’s cities are actually equivalent to crime levels in California’s, but this is not reflected in crime statistics because Floridan cities don’t report the data. It is unclear how the author would know the crime rates are higher in Florida if they don’t report the data. It is also worth noting that many cities in “red” Florida, such as Fort Lauderdale just north of Miami, are run by Democrats.

But one user on X, investigative researcher Parker Thayer of the Capital Research Center, quickly discovered that the author of the article works for an organization that receives money from George Soros.
As the author’s bio indicates, Mike Males is a social ecology PhD graduate from UC Irvine and works as a senior researcher at the Center for Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ), a left-of-center criminal justice reform group. CJCJ has been the recipient of funds from the Open Society Foundations, a mammoth left-of-center private grantmaking organization started and funded by George Soros. Alex Soros is currently the chair of the foundation.
The author of this report just so happens to get money from your foundation and your dad just so happens to be the #1 funder of progressive district attorneys.

Additionally, Alex Soros’ X post got Community Noted with statistics that prove the exact opposite of what Soros and Males claim. Community Notes is a feature where X users can fact check posts in real time. It turns out the top five cities with leading crime rates in the US are all run by Democratic governments.

User @TheRabbitHole84 pointed out that the trend continues to the county level, where Democratic counties have higher homicide rates on average than Republican counties. “Maybe the Soros family can try being honest about crime for once?”, they wrote.
Elon Musk himself weighed in. “Facts are Facts!” he said in reply to The Rabbit Hole’s post.
Alex Soros is likely to take his tweet down, so here are screenshots to immortalize the greatest feat of his intellect to date:
