U.S. Journalist Max Blumenthal addressed the United Nations Security Council last Friday, discussing Ukraine aid and personal profits of government officials at the expense of American tax dollars.
“I am also here as an American taxpayer, who’s been dragooned into funding a proxy war that has become a threat to the regional and international stability, at the expense of my countrymen and women,” the founder and editor-in-chief of The Grayzone began.

He addressed the most recent toxic train derailment in the United States — this time, near the Montana River — exposing our “chronically underfunded” infrastructure and the threat to Americans’ health. Yet rather than taking care of our own backyard, Blumenthal explained how the Pentagon announced plans to send an additional $500 million worth of military aid to Ukraine.
As U.S. funds continue to be sent to Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned how the nation’s third week of counter offense is “going slower than desired.” As Ukraine’s military failed to breach Russia’s primary defense line, networks like CNN reported Kyiv having “lost 16 U.S.-made armored vehicles sent to the country.”
The hefty bill was then passed down to the average American taxpayer by the Pentagon, charging us “another $325 million” for replacement stock.
According to Blumenthal, zero effort was issued to consult with the American public on their positions, nor do most Americans even realize the exchange taking place.
Blumenthal makes the correlation of sending billions of dollars to a proxy war, while our very own infrastructure falls to pieces, stating that this “exposes a disturbing dynamic at the heart of the Ukraine conflict — an international Ponzi scheme that enables western elites to seize hard-earned wealth from the hands of average U.S. citizens and funnel it into the coffers of a foreign government that ranks as consistently one of the most corrupt in Europe.”
The U.S. government has also failed to conduct an official audit of its funding to Ukraine. Blumenthal’s publication shared an independent audit of U.S. tax dollar allocations this past week, citing some disturbing findings including:
- A $4.5 million-dollar payment from the U.S. social security administration to the Kyiv government
- $4.5 billion worth of payments from the U.S. agency for international development to pay off Ukraine’s sovereign debt — much of which is owned by the global investment firm, BlackRock
- Tax dollars were ear marked for Ukraine, patting the budgets of a television station in Toronto, a pro-NATO “think tank” in Poland and rural farmers in Kenya
- Tens of millions of dollars sent to private equity firms, including one in the Republic of Georgia
- $1 million to a single, private entrepreneur in Kyiv
- Pentagon’s $4.5 million-dollar contract with a company called Atlantic Diving Supply, (a notoriously corrupt company) to provide Ukraine with unspecified explosives equipment
