This whole corporate love of all things woke is getting very specific.

It’s not uncommon for LGBT pride advocates to raise a bunch of bucks from big business. Annual pride marches in June across cities nationwide are a commonality. That’s not the issue.

But the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to take it one step further last week. They were planning on hosting their annual pride night, sponsoring one very specific group. The drag group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were also to receive a special award from the Dodgers.

But if the name doesn’t concern you, it should. This group combines cross dressing and nuns. Men essentially dress up as “pride nuns”, meaning they’re supposed to be nuns with garish makeup and revealing pride wear.

No harm in letting it all hang out, but did you have to bring the Catholic Church into this whole thing?

Last week, a powerful Catholic advocacy group called CatholicVote got wind of the salacious sponsorship. They announced they’d be spending a million dollars in an effort to encourage Catholics from banning all things Dodgers.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio gave the movement some credibility as well, blasting out a press release blasting the Dodgers.

” It would be an outrage and a tragedy if the MLB, in pursuit of modern, secular, and indeed anti-religious ‘values,’ rebuked that faith and the millions of believing fans who cherish the sport,” the letter said.

Now this where the ping pong begins. It’s a lot to keep track of.

The Los Angeles Dodgers initially caved to the pressure.

They released a statement that they wouldn’t be sponsoring or giving the naughty nuns an award.

Then LGBT activists breathed their own fire.

The Los Angeles LGBT Center decided to nix their involvement with the Dodgers pride night event. They said the team was “buckling to pressure from out-of-state, right-wing fundamentalists.”

“If the decision is not reversed, we strongly encourage the Dodgers to cancel Pride Night. Any organization that turns its back on LGBTQ+ people at this damning and dangerous inflection point in our nation’s history should not be hoisting a rainbow flag or hosting a ‘Pride Night.”

Boycott vs. boycott, smart move.

So then the Dodgers reversed their decision. They rushed to issue an apology statement, pride flag and all, on Twitter:

” Los Angeles Dodgers organization and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.” The Sisters would also still receive their “community achievement” award.

CatholicVote was preparing to still spend their cash on a boycott. How could the Dodgers play it both ways?

Host a Christian faith and family day!

This is a historic first. The movement against woke gone overboard has gained so much steam, that entire events and days are now created around them. You have to call that a victory, and it’s the most striking story yet to show that the culture is finally calming down. There’s never been a special day, cost and all, added on a whim from a major baseball team before.

Of course, activists didn’t seem to buy it.

Since all this broke last week, the numbers aren’t in to see if the Dodgers lost any cash from this. The team reversed their decisions so many times, neither supporters nor detractors of the pride nuns could figure out what to do. This is a cartoonish example of the corporate woke trying to have their cake and eat it too.

But hey, activists for families got a day out of it. And that’s something to celebrate.
