Did you know that the National Institute of Health has used over $1 billion of government federal funds to study long Covid? Not only have they used this much money, but they have failed to develop any new data for the American people.

This “study” was initially approved to help Americans experiencing brain fog, fatigue, and other symptoms after recovering from Covid-19.

The NIH has yet to update its page with any data results and has yet to sign a single patient to test any potential treatments. Congress has mandated this study – if there are no showings, then where has the money been utilized? This study has been two years in the making.

“So far, I don’t think we’ve gotten anything for a billion dollars,” said Ezekiel Emanuel, a physician, vice provost for global initiatives, and co-director of the Healthcare Transformation Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. “That is just unacceptable, and it’s a serious dysfunction.”

There seems to be no sense of urgency to speed up things, either. The agency is apparently not asking Congress for any more funding for long Covid research, with STAT and MuckRock obtaining documents showcasing that the NIH refuses to use its own money to change course.

According to the National Library of Medicine, there are more than 200 symptoms that have been identified with impacts on multiple organ systems. At least 65 million individuals worldwide have been estimated to have long Covid.

The World Health Organization’s last health update was back in March, only stating that they “cannot predict how long post COVID-19 condition will last for any given person. Most people experience improvement in their symptoms, but we know that lingering symptoms can last from weeks to months.

Currently, it remains impossible to predict how long post COVID-19 condition may last for any given person.”

So, is anyone going to address the elephant in the room and ask where those taxpayer dollars went?
