The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 was unveiled at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, boasting a 1,025-horsepower production HEMI® engine that brings 945 lb.-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. With power like that, the most potent muscle car produced by Dodge can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in 1.66 seconds.
The vehicle can run the ¼-mile in under nine seconds where it clocks in at 151.17 miles per hour, distinguishing it as the only factory production car to accomplish such a feat. The Challenger SRT Demon 170 reaches maximum output via high ethanol fuel blends which determine horsepower levels by detecting the proportion of ethanol fuel content. The vehicle has been prohibited by the NHRA from partaking in ¼-mile races without a safety cage or parachute due to its remarkable speed.
Like the 2018 model, the Demon 170 has a single seat, however, it can be customized to include a passenger seat and rear bench. Production of the vehicle will start this summer with a limited run of 3,000 units for the US and 300 for Canada.
Ordering begins March 27 with an MSRP of $96,666, excluding destination and fees. Those who purchase the vehicle will be required to sign a waiver which states the buyer acknowledges the purchase to be of a street-legal drag-racing car.
