Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, provoked widespread condemnation after promoting and selling swastika-emblazoned t-shirts through his Yeezy website, following a Super Bowl ad.

Shopify, the platform hosting Yeezy.com, removed the site for violating its terms of service, as the sale of such items drew accusations of promoting Nazism and antisemitism.

“All merchants are responsible for following the rules of our platform. This merchant did not engage in authentic commerce practices and violated our terms, so we removed them from Shopify,” the company said in a statement.

Ye’s actions were further criticized by the Anti-Defamation League, which highlighted the dangerous implications of the merchandise.

The controversial t-shirt’s label, ‘HH-01,’ was noted to be a reference to ‘Heil Hitler,’ intensifying the backlash.
