Podcast host Joe Rogan clarified on Friday that he has not made an official presidential endorsement for the upcoming election, settling rumors that he had spoken out in support of Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In response to media outlets and online commentators claiming that he had chosen Kennedy as his preferred candidate, Rogan clarified that he “likes RFK Jr. as a person,” but has not endorsed him.

Confusion over Rogan’s position on the election arose following Thursday’s episode of the “Joe Rogan Experience,” during which he appreciated the way Kennedy differentiates himself from Democrats and Republicans who “gaslight,” “manipulate,” and “promote narratives.”

“The only one who’s not doing that is Robert F. Kennedy Jr,” Rogan said. “I am a fan [of Kennedy]. He’s the only one that makes sense to me. He doesn’t attack people. He attacks actions and ideas. He’s much more reasonable and intelligent.”

After the clip went viral—prompting reactions from social media users across the political spectrum and generating headlines at multiple major outlets—Rogan clarified that this was an off-the-cuff remark, not a formal endorsement.

“For the record, this isn’t an endorsement. This is me saying that I like RFK jr as a person, and I really appreciate the way he discusses things with civility and intelligence. I think we could use more of that in this world,” Rogan wrote. “I also think Trump raising his fist and saying ‘fight!’ after getting shot is one of the most American f***ing things of all time.”

“I’m not the guy to get political information from,” Rogan continued. “If you want that from a comic, go to [Dave Smith]. He actually knows what he’s talking about.”

In the past, Rogan has spoken at length about his criticism of both former President Donald Trump and the Biden-Harris administration.

“I’m not a Trump supporter in any way, shape or form. I’ve had the opportunity to have him on my show more than once, I’ve said no every time,” Rogan told podcast host Lex Friedman last month. “I don’t want to help him, I’m not interested in helping him.”

This statement was notably made the week before the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
