A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit roughly two miles from Tewksbury, New Jersey Friday morning, affecting the New York City area. People from Boston, Massachusetts down to Baltimore, Maryland felt the earth rocking, which occurred at 10:23 a.m., according to the US Geological Survey.

New Jersey and New York relatives contacted by VT.com reported seeing windows and desk items shake in their offices, but for no more than 30 seconds.

The quake did, however, lead to some transportation disruptions and closures. The epicenter was detected about 45 miles west of New York City and 40 miles east of Allenstown, Pennsylvania.

The National Tsunami Warning Center said there is no cause for concern that a tsunami could form after the blast, unlike advisories issued by Taiwanese authorities just days ago.
