CNN’s chief legal analyst, Jeffrey Toobin, is in trouble for exposing his penis on a Zoom call. The New Yorker magazine has suspended Toobin after a story popped up about his genitalia being seen by members of the New Yorker and WNYC Radio during a Zoom call last week.
Toobin offered an apology for the incident and also tried to explain what happened. “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers,” Toobin said in a statement to Vice. “I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”
Toobin has not posted to his public Twitter account since October 13. The social media absence may have aroused some suspicion that something was going on. Toobin is a prominent CNN personality, and he makes it no secret that he’s not a fan of the current administration. His latest book, titled “True Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Investigation of Donald Trump,” was released in August and can be found on Amazon.
While it may have been difficult for CNN to lose one of their on-air staff this close to the election, the Harvard Law School grad was given some free time. “Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted,” CNN said in a statement.
