Given the recent social and political climate in New York City, if comic book superheroes existed and roamed the streets fighting crime, they’d probably be arrested for simply protecting and serving.

Former Marine Daniel Penny, 24, was charged on Friday with second-degree manslaughter for allegedly choking and killing Jordan Neely, 30, a former street performer with a long history of mental illness during a May 1 subway ride on an F train in Manhattan.

An online legal defense fund started by the attorneys representing Penny has raised over $2 million. As radical left city leaders like AOC and DA Alvin Bragg call Penny a murderer without proper context of the situation, a major “Daniel Penny” trend began on Twitter, calling it an unfair price to pay for Penny’s good deed.

Users and influencers alike, took to Twitter to share their support for Penny.

In a tweet posted today, recent PBD Podcast guest Tim Pool announced he would donate $20,000 to Daniel Penny’s Defense fund to support the “Good Samaritan” who was willing to do the right thing.

Further tweets shared in support of Daniel Penny’s defense:

The veteran was released on bail Friday after turning himself into the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. A statement released by Penny’s attorneys expressed condolences to those close to Neely. It stated that Penny “never intended to harm Mr. Neely and could not have foreseen his untimely death.”

Sharing train carts with the homeless is nothing new in New York, however, when a homeless person or potential criminal does engage with a passenger in a rather aggressive manner, others manage to do nothing. This is why passengers thanked Penny for intervening in a scary situation with a man making death threats to passengers.
