National Public Radio (NPR) receives taxpayer funding from all parties, but a Republican Congressman is calling out the nonprofit media organization for refusing to cover a story because it “is devastating to the (Joe) Biden campaign and the leftist cause.”

Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina became a long-time listener, first-time writer. He penned a letter to NPR president and CEO John Lansing on Friday to criticize that NPR acknowledged, like most media outlets, that it is not following a New York Post story about emails on a laptop allegedly belonging to Biden’s son, Hunter.

“It’s been clear since the 2016 election that NPR will not report on anything that would hurt Democrats, in an effort to try and defeat President Trump,” Duncan wrote.

NPR public editor Kelly McBride wrote that the New York Post report carried “many, many red flags.” Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s lawyer, provided the laptop allegedly showing a 2015 email that mentions a possible introduction that Hunter Biden made between the then-vice president and the Ukrainian energy firm where Hunter served on the board.

“Even if Russia can’t be positively connected to this information, the story of how Trump associates Steve Bannon and Rudy Giuliani came into a copy of this computer hard drive has not been verified and seems suspect,” McBride wrote. “And if that story could be verified, the New York Post did no forensic work to convince consumers that the emails and photos that are the basis for their report have not been altered.”

NPR managing editor Terence Samuel told McBride that it was a waste of staffers’, listeners’ and readers’ time to purse “a politically driven event.”

Duncan called for NPR federal funding to be pulled and wrote that “any true journalist would seek to expose the truth, comb through the documents, and report the corroborating evidence–not call it quits.” He condemned NPR for its choice in light of reporting on an anti-Trump dossier from ex-British intelligence agent Christopher Steele.
