The NFL rules the sports world.  There is nothing, not even the emerging new trend of professional Pickleball, that comes close.  Of the top 100 television shows this year and last year, over 90 percent were football games.

The reason the NFL is so popular is because of their live events, their packaging, and because they form incredible communities of fan bases.

A group called The Emory Marketing Analytics Center and Analytics Podcast watches the NFL very closely to study the fan bases and make determinations about consumer passion of, which they use to showcase the power of analytics for sports marketing.

They have determined which NFL franchises are the top brands in terms of fan passion.

The reason this information is so critical is that knowing where the passion lies currently and in the future will drive current and future revenues.

So, without further ado, let’s break down the list The Emory Marketing Analytics Center provided to find out which teams have the best and worse fans.

Should we start at the top or bottom? Let’s go from worst to first.

At number 32 is the Washington Commanders. Is that shocking? Hardly. They have the worst owner, a stadium that is not state of the art, and now they are being sued by the Washington D.C. Attorney General. On top of that, their coach is over-rated, and their quarterback is over-paid, over-rated, and usually injured.

Right above them from 20-32 are the Browns, Colts, Dolphins, Lions, Rams, Bucs, Jets, Bills, Jaguars, Cardinals, Bengals, and Titans.

Two of those teams have won the most recent Super Bowls, so it is possible to have a lousy fan base and still win.

From 10-19 are the Panthers, Seahawks, Forty Niners, Giants, Texans, Chargers, Vikings, Ravens, Falcons, and Chiefs.

Umm, something here doesn’t sound right. Texan fans over the Vikings fan base? The Chargers fans over the Chiefs? I’m not buying it.

From number nine to #2 are the Bears, Broncos, Saints, Raiders, Steelers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Patriots.

At number one? The Green Bay Packers fan base.
