Barack Obama has to be ecstatic he was president when he was and no longer has to deal with the problems the country and the world is facing now. He served his two terms, cashed in on a massive book deal, and can live the good life in Hawaii as long as he wants. So, in other words, the fact that Elon Musk just passed him for having the most followers on Twitter probably doesn’t faze him.

Musk hit 133.05 million followers, which puts Obama in second place. Behind them are Justin Bieber, with 113.31 million followers, hen Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Cristiano Ronaldo, Donald Trump, and Lady Gaga.

The reason Musk made a move up the rankings is obvious — he worked at it. While he tweets out his opinion on matters multiple times per day, Obama drops his knowledge only a couple of times per week.  The Biebs hasn’t tweeted anything since December.

Musk makes headlines every day. He did again this week by revealing that he thinks the value of Twitter is less than half the price he paid for it, which was $44 billion.

Here’s something to watch for in the next couple of days. One of the significant changes Musk is making to Twitter is one of his most controversial — he’s doing away with the free service that provides blue checkmarks to verified accounts. Instead, he’s pushing a revenue-driving model called Twitter Blue, a monthly subscription service that will allow people with blue check marks to keep them.

The blue checks have usually gone to media members, politicians, businesses, and others with a spike in popularity. That decision isn’t going over well with many. William Shatner has beef with it.  Monica Lewinsky pointed out that fake Monica Lewinsky accounts could be paying for the service to fool the public.

Musk counters that the new way of doing things is fair and equal for everyone.

This is why the next couple of days will be interesting. Musk has announced that the blue check switch will happen on April 1.

That’s April Fool’s Day.
