There’s a fine line between brilliant and idiotic, and it appears the decision makers for the Washington Football Team of the NFL are straddling it.

The club is apparently seriously considering staying with the generic name of “Washington Football Team.”

They’ve existed without a nickname for the past year, and the bland moniker is just flowing off the tongue of some Washingtonians.

Team President Jason Wright told ESPN why the are thinking about this decision. “There are a set of folks that have warmed to the Washington Football Team. Some of the things that are emerging from that are the Washington Football Team has something that ties deeply to our history. It feels like that isn’t jettisoning all the things we have been in the past, whereas something that’s completely new might feel that way.

“It’s important for a substantial part of our fan base to feel that this is a continuation of something versus a complete reset, something brand new.”

Sounds like a team that has relied on one too many focus groups.

While the team no longer needs to face criticism for having what some consider a racist nickname (Redskins) they likewise will not have to worry about being labeled “forward-thinking visionaries” either if they actually go with this dull idea.
