You often hear about billionaires that want to fly into space, or take a trip to another planet.
Yeah, I’m talking to you Musk, Bezos and Branson.  I mean, is life on Earth so bad for these uber rich titans?

While Elon’s SpaceX company keeps firing satellites into orbit to try to bring high speed Internet service to this planet and Bezos and his Blue Origin talk a good game about what they are doing in space, we finally got an actual glimpse at one of the spaceships that Richard Branson and his Virgin Glactic company hope to take a ride on soon…

The third generation VSS Imagine is if nothing else, shiny. And extremely sexy. This is actually the aircraft that will be taking astronauts into space, very soon if things go according to plan.

One of the coolest aspects of the design of Imagine is who they brought in to help create the vivid lifelike experience they were looking for.  According to a story in Robb Report, Virgin hired former Disney lead “imagineer” Joe Rohde to help make this dream come to life.

“His brilliance is creating deep, transformational moments. He’ll work on the shoulders of the space flight—what happens before and after the flight—to maximize the experience,” Virgin Galactic CEO Michal Colglazier told Robb Report.

Virgin’s Unity spacecraft is set to fly into space starting in May. It will take flight four times in 2021.  Sir Richard Branson is scheduled to be on the third test flight for Unity.

After that, the plan is for Virgin to open flights to the public. Prices range from $200,000 – $250,000 and 600 people have already signed on.

Unity is set to launch flights to the public in 2022.  Imagine will follow, and then Infinity will take to the skies.

And Virgin is dead serious about not making this a fad.  Their CEO told Robb Report they want to have 400 flights per year for each of their spaceships.
