There aren’t a lot of downsides of being one of the top 5 wealthiest persons to ever walk on the planet, but here’s one; it’s hard to keep a secret.

Bill Gates is finding that out rather quickly as more details emerge on his divorce proceedings with wife Melinda.

Vanity Fair reported that Bill was not the nerdy do-gooder that many people thought he was, and in fact has had multiple affairs over the years that were described as “an open secret” to those people around Gates.

In the Vanity Fair report, two sources told the magazine that someone in Melinda’s inner circle worked with a private investigator leading up to the divorce announcement in May.

The story in VF had some salacious  details including a story from one former employee that told the magazine they saw evidence of Gates’ cheating by how he would switch cars at the office.  According to this source, Gates would drive his Mercedes to work, but then drive off in a golden-brown Porsche that was delivered by his security personnel.

The former employee made the assumption that he was doing that to sneak away to be with other women. Here’s what she said in the story.

“We all assumed that it was when he was with women. I knew there were many offsite meetings that were not on his calendar.”

Those details were refuted by a source close to Gates, who told Vanity Fair that Bill rarely left the office because he didn’t have time. She called him  “one of the most intensely scheduled people on the planet.””

All of these revelations and allegations can not be fun for the $137 billion dollar man, and his camp sent out a statement after this hit piece ran that said in part: “It is extremely disappointing that there have been so many untruths published about the cause, the circumstances, and the timeline of Bill Gates’s divorce.”

Yeah, sorry.  It goes with the territory when you are that rich, and that conscious of crafting a certain image.
