CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk has acknowledged that prior to his takeover, there was an “obvious reality” that Twitter “has interfered in elections.” Musk’s claim of recognizable interference is towards its content moderation policies.

On social media site, @EvaFoxU tweeted:

Twitter has shown itself to be not safe for the past 10 years and has lost users’ trust. The past team of “trust and safety” is a disgrace, so it doesn’t have any right to judge what is being done now. They had a chance, but they sold their souls to a corporation.

@ElonMusk replied:

Exactly. The obvious reality, as long-time users know, is that Twitter has failed in trust & safety for a very long time and has interfered in elections.

Musk’s comments are in response to speculation by Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, Yoel Roth. Roth explained the social media platform was actually not safer under Musk’s leadership.

However, in contrast to Roth’s comments, Twitter’s content moderation policies have been firmly criticized by free speech advocates on the right. They note main incidents such as enforcing rules against conservatives arbitrarily and cloaking the Hunter Biden laptop story. The masking of the laptop story was believed by many conservatives to be an attempt to protect the Biden campaign from further scrutiny during the 2020 election season, in regard to his family’s foreign business affairs.

Musk also met this week with Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, and resolved the rumored beef.

Musk tweeted:

“Good conversation. Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.”

“Twitter 2.0 will be far more effective, transparent and even-handed.”

Looks like things are back on track for Musk and Twitter as his success continues running the worlds free speech platform.
