Everything Tom Brady touches seems to turn to gold. (Well, except for the Super Bowl trophy he almost threw into the bottom of the Hillsborough River near downtown Tampa. That would have turned into a big chunk of rust, but luckily it didn’t.)

On Thursday, one of Brady’s rookie cards, a 2000 Playoff Contender Championship Ticket card that is graded as an 8, that also contain’s Brady’s signature, sold for a record $1.32 million on the online auction house PWCC Marketplace.

Of course, it’s Brady, so it’s a new record.  It unofficially beats out the Patrick Mahomes National Treasures autographed card that sold last month for $861,000.

The record before that was held by Brady as well. It went for $555,988, so you can see how football cards are exploding in value.

The buyer of the new record card is James Park, a big collector from Boston.

“I lived in Boston for 10 years and so am a huge fan of Brady. I’ve also had a love of collecting cards since I was a kid. Given Brady’s uncontested status as GOAT in football, this card is an important piece of sports history and of any collection.”

Park posted those comments on PWCC Marketplace’s Instagram page.

Brady’s reaction was classic too. He posted on his Instagram story, “Okay I am definitely cleaning out the basement this morning.”

How long will the new record last? Probably a month. ESPN reports there is a similar Brady card for sale on the auction sight Lelands that has graded out at 8.5.  Bids are already over $700,000.
