It’s that time of year when everyone begins to wrap up unfinished business to prepare for the new year. If you’re a music lover, it’s also the time of year when you get a little joy out of looking back at your favorite songs of the year.

Once again, Spotify has revealed its listeners’ “Spotify Wrapped” playlists showcasing each individual’s top 100 played songs of the year. Most likely, Bad Bunny made the cut, as he was the most streamed artist globally for the third year in a row. This year a new feature was added to help you better understand yourself. The feature reveals your “listening personality,” highlighting what your music means about you.

Here’s how the trending feature works. Your “listening personality” is broken down into four metrics :

  • familiarity versus exploration
  • loyalty versus variety,
  • timelessness versus newness,
  • commonality versus uniqueness.

Next, you are given your personality type out of a possible 16. A few options are the Time Traveler, Adventurer, or The Nomad.

Also, a new feature on the app is your music mood, which digests your listening habits throughout the day to highlight your music moods in the morning, afternoon, and night.

If you’re an entrepreneur looking to create your own app, you should take a few notes from Spotify when it comes to setting trends. This trending once-a-year release has become so popular that rivals Apple Music and Youtube Music have both started to produce their own version of a year-round-up.

If you’re team Spotify, check it out and share in the comments below which of the 16 listening personality types you are.
