Tiger Woods, injured in a Feb. 23 single-car crash in L.A., is finally out of the hospital and back home in Florida.
The career is certainly on hold, given the surgeries to repair open fractures in his leg, and his immediate future is uncertain.
Woods, 45, tweeted his update following his recovery from the two fractures and a shattered ankle.
“Happy to report I am back home and continuing my recovery. I am so grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement that I have received over the past few weeks.
“Thank you to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses and staff at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. … I will be recovering at home and working on getting stronger every day.”
The 15-time major champion finished tied for 38th at the Masters, which was rescheduled from April to November in 2020.
That was his most recent PGA appearance because of a Dec. 23 back procedure and subsequent rehabbing.
Woods was in Southern California to serve as host for the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club.
He had scheduled endorsement appearances and was on his way to a television shoot a little after 7 a.m. for GolfTV when the accident happened.
Woods was extricated from the loaned SUV and underwent hours of surgery for what a doctor described as “significant orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity.”
He was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for follow-up procedures.
Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, who has a home near Woods in Jupiter, Fla., said in an interview last week with talk show host Jimmy Fallon that Woods was “doing better” and it would be “great” for him to be back at his home with his family.
