Tesla CEO Elon Musk is certainly innovative, and his long-awaited subscription service – a predecessor to a full self-driving car which is even longer-awaited – will arrive soon.

Musk, after a bit of a delay, plans to launch the Tesla subscription service for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) package before July.

Elektrek.co also reported there were indications that Tesla is working on a pay-as-you-go subscription for the (FSD) package.

Last year, according to Elektrek, Musk confirmed a release “toward the end of 2020.”

But now it’s “early 2021,” a revised deadline set by Musk, who has tweeted “for sure” the FSD is coming during the second quarter this year (April to June).

The package will be reportedly coming in at $10,000 at the purchase of a new Tesla vehicle.

Musk also claimed, via the Elektrek story, it’s a “better long-term deal” to outright buy the Full Self-Driving package: “Note, buying FSD will still be a better long-term deal than subscription.”

Customers who choose not to buy the FSD at the time of purchase can pay for FSD on a monthly basis, likely a little more than $100 per month provided the vehicle has been ordered with FSD hardware.

So what do consumers receive with the FSD package?

Navigate on Autopilot

Auto Lane Change

Autopark

Summon

Full Self-Driving Computer

Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control

The dream of Tesla’s future involves full self-driving capability for its car.

As for Tesla’s momentum?

Musk has been claiming that the self-driving distinction of Tesla vehicles will help grow their value. And that could generate revenue through an upcoming self-driving ride-hailing network that Tesla is planning to release later this year.
