The consulting group Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported that AI put a good chunk of workers on the unemployment line in May. How many? About 4,000 jobs, which accounted for a pretty hefty percentage of the layoffs at 4.9%.

Diving deeper into the data, over 80,000 jobs were eliminated in May, bringing the year’s total to 417,500.

As for the main reason companies are scaling back on headcount, business closures are at the top of the list.

Thanks to the soft-on-crime strategy of progressive district attorneys, and Joe Biden, for creating an environment where businesses have to close because of rampant theft and violence.

The second-most common reason was “market/economic conditions.” Again, thank Biden and his anti-capitalist cronies.

As AI continues to evolve and become more popular and available, it will continue dramatically disrupting the workforce.  Goldman Sachs published a report this year saying some form of AI automation may be used for about two-thirds of positions.

On the flip side, Artificial Intelligence will also add jobs to the economy. But that will require unique skills.
