Alec Baldwin offered to quit impersonating President Donald Trump four years ago if Trump released his tax returns. He didn’t get that wish, so he pressed forward until Trump was apparently voted out of office.
The 62-year-old still is elated to lose the job, given his open dislike for Trump and the fact that the “Match Game” host, podcaster, columnist and actor has endless occupations to support five kids who are 7 years old and younger.
“I don’t believe I’ve ever been this overjoyed to lose a job before!” Baldwin wrote on Twitter. “It will be comforting when we have a President who doesn’t Tweet twice as much as I do … They’re gonna need an enormous shipment of tissues sent to Mar-a-Lago … On to my next wish. That everyone who voted in this election maintains that commitment and votes in the 2022 midterm elections. Let’s keep this going!!!”
This past weekend, Baldwin played Trump once again on “Saturday Night Live,” just hours after major media networks projected Joe Biden as the presidential election winner.
“As anyone who died halfway through Tuesday knows, I was re-elected president of the United States,” Baldwin deadpanned as Trump before sitting at a piano and crooning a slower rendition of Trump rally staple “Macho Man.” He added, “This isn’t a goodbye, America. I’m just going to say, ‘See you in court.’”
Baldwin posted a photo of himself in his Trump persona and holding a “You’re welcome” sign for the 1 million followers of the Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation account.
The majority of America probably is glad Baldwin is done with Trump, either because it means Trump is out of office or because they don’t find Baldwin’s impersonation to be funny.
