Queen Elizabeth, the iconic and beloved Royal and the longest-reigning monarch in Britain, died Thursday at 96.

She has loyally and stoically served as Queen for seven decades, and the title of King now goes to her oldest son, Prince Charles.

Doctors treating Elizabeth were worried about her condition, which deteriorated quickly, saying earlier that they “were concerned for Her Majesty’s health.”

Reports indicate she died peacefully under medical supervision, and her family was warned her condition was dire, as they all rushed to the hospital to be by her side.

The Queen was married for over 70 years to Prince Phillip, and she had four children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.

Elizabeth was beloved throughout England, a gracious and comforting presence for generations who fancied colorful hats and bright, floral colored dresses.

The Queen was constantly seen in public but deftly hid many details about her personal life despite being hounded continuously and covered by paparazzi and the press. She was known to love thoroughbred race horses and made news in 2011 when she purchased an iPad after Prince William and Prince Harry showed her their new tech gadgets.

She famously described falling in love with Prince Phillip of Greece and Denmark at the age of 13 and was married on November 20, 1947.

The coronation that anointed her Queen occurred on June 2, 1953, and she has been given credit for attempting to make the monarchy more modern.

She will go down as the longest-married monarch in British history and the most widely traveled British head of state. How traveled? She visited 120 countries in the span of her 70-year reign.
