ChatGPT is capable of doing some amazing things. One thing it hasn’t done, though, is reach 500K downloads of its app faster than Donald Trump’s Truth Social app.
ChatGPT was only available in the United States and only on iOS, and it still got half a million people to download it in less than a week. It has now expanded to many more global markets, so it will set records that might stand for a while, but the truth for Trump is that his app got to 500k faster.
A number of fake app developers have tried to gravy train off the excitement and popularity of OpenAI’s hot tech, with a number of third-party apps that call themselves “ChatGPT” or “AI chatbot” have dominated the Apple Store.
Bing and Microsoft Edge had red-hot apps, too, posting 340,000 and 335,000 downloads across iOS and Android for a five-day period in February, but ChatGPT eclipsed that.
India is one of the new countries that now have access to the ChatGPT app. Also on that list are Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the UAE.
