Chris Krebs, the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) found himself on the wrong end of a President Trump you’re-fired tweet on Tuesday night. Krebs was leading a campaign at CISA to control rumors about election fraud. The statements made by Krebs in the rumor-control campaign caught the attention of President Trump, who took to Twitter to voice his thoughts.

In a pair of tweets, the president said, “The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 Election was highly inaccurate, in that there were massive improprieties and fraud—including dead people voting, Poll Watchers not allowed into polling locations, “glitches” in the voting machines which changed… votes from Trump to Biden, late voting, and many more. Therefore, effective immediately, Chris Krebs has been terminated as Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.”

Krebs responded with a tweet saying, “Honored to serve. We did it right. Defend Today, Secure Tomrorow (sic). #Protect2020.”

The move by Trump predictably drew criticism from the left with House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) tweeting, “It is alarming and yet unsurprising that President Trump fired Director Krebs after he affirmed that there was no fraud in the 2020 election—a truth that President Trump refuses to accept.”

Saying there has been “no fraud” isn’t exactly accurate. Most experts believe there was some level of fraud in this election but question whether the amount would be enough to change the results of the election.
