Thursday’s episode of the PBD Podcast featured an in-depth conversation with political commentator and Young Turks co-host Ana Kasparian. Alongside Patrick Bet-David and the rest of the Home Team, Kasparian discussed the latest tragic mass shooting, the dangers of internet censorship, and America’s growing mistrust of media.

Here are some of the standout moments from this episode:

1. “The California Sh!tshow” – Ana Kasparian’s Home State is Failing

Kasparian, a native Californian, has seen firsthand the destruction that Governor Gavin Newsom’s policies have had on her state. But while many people are fleeing to red states, Kasparian isn’t leaving.

“I’m not going to leave and just allow the most extreme elements of the left to destroy the state,” she said. “I’m going to stay, and I’m going to fight, and I’m going to make it better.”

But with Newsom focused on what many see as a shadow campaign for president, issues like blatant prostitution and rampant drug use are threatening to destroy his state. Should Newsom really be meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping when there’s so much “degenerate garbage” in his own backyard?

2. “The FBI Dropped the Ball” – What We Know About the Maine Shooting

In the day’s top story, a brutal mass shooting on Wednesday night killed at least 22 and wounded 50 more at a restaurant and bowling alley in Maine. As of now, the suspect is still at large, considered armed and dangerous.

Reports indicate that the mentally ill shooter was known to law enforcement and had made threats in the past, raising an important question: why did authorities fail to prevent the shooting?

As the full scope of the tragedy becomes clear, the usual sides are forming in the gun control/mental health debate. But as Kasparian argued, there might be room for both sides to be right.
