It’s interesting to note how the threat of real prison time, and being publicly humiliated can change the tune of many of the rioters that participated in the mayhem at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
On that Wednesday afternoon they were full of bravado and confidence, breaking through four security barricades before some actually entered the Capitol, and ransacked offices and other private areas.
Jenna Ryan is a real estate agent in Texas who flew on a private jet to Washington, DC to participate in what turned out to be mayhem. She was arrested on January 15, and charged with two federal misdemeanor counts.
She now says she is embarrassed by what she did that day, and regrets it all. She told the Washington Post she cam to support the group of “patriots” who have now abandoned her.
“I bought into a lie, and the lie is the lie, and it’s embarrassing. I regret everything,” she said.
Ryan was publicly outed on social media. She was promoting her real estate business as she made selfie videos, and not acting anything like she is sounding now. She bragged in a tweet just how much of a rebel she was and how much fun she was having. “We just stormed the Capital. It was one of the best days of my life.”
She’s not having much fun now, publicly scorned and humiliated. PayPal banned her from trying to raise funds for her legal defense. She also asked former President Donald Trump for a pardon but that request was denied. “Not one patriot is standing up for me,” she told the Washington Post.
“I’m a complete villain. I was down there based on what my president said: ‘Stop the steal.’ Now I see that it was all over nothing. He was just having us down there for an ego boost. I was there for him.”
