Controversial sibling influencer duo Andrew and Tristan Tate left Romania on Thursday, heading to the US after the Romanian government lifted a travel ban preventing the brothers from leaving the country for the last three years. The Tates, who hold dual US-UK citizenship, have both been charged with human trafficking and other related crimes, and it is unclear under what specific conditions they were allowed to travel outside Romania.

According to Romanian media sources, the brothers boarded a plane at 5:00 am local time on Thursday (10:00 pm EST on Wednesday), with “airport sources” suggesting that Florida is their destination.
Their departure followed discussions involving US officials, including a statement from US President Donald Trump’s envoy Richard Grenell, who expressed interest in their legal situation at the Munich Security Conference. The brothers are vocal supporters of President Trump, which has fueled speculation about political influence in their case, although Romanian authorities deny that the lifting of the travel ban came as the result of pressure from the US.

The Romanian anti-organized crime agency confirmed that prosecutors approved their request to modify restrictions, although judicial control measures remain in effect, requiring them to appear before authorities when summoned.
“The request to change the obligation of not leaving Romania was approved,” prosecutors said in a statement on Thursday. “All the other obligations have been maintained, including the requirement to check in with judicial authorities every time they are called.”
The Tates have denied all allegations of wrongdoing, which include forming a criminal gang to exploit women and trafficking minors.
They were arrested in late 2022, and while a trial has been ruled to start, no date has been set yet. Both brothers are also wanted in the UK on similar charges, and their extradition is anticipated after Romanian legal proceedings.
