It is hard to argue over politics while eating a delicious cookie.

A Pennsylvania bakery caters to the Donald Trump and Joe Biden factions by selling iced cookies with Trump’s name and red sprinkles or Biden’s name and blue sprinkles. And if cookie sales are the indicator that they have been the past three elections, Trump is going to win in a landslide. In its most recent results reveal, Lochel’s Bakery in Hatboro had sold 27,903 Trump cookies to 5,114 Biden cookies.

It is easily the most presidential cookies the bakery has sold for an election season and a welcome influx for a local business trying to stay afloat amid the pandemic. Trump’s son, Eric, visited the bakery and increased its exposure greatly, but the owners and 25 employees have remained staunchly impartial in the name of good business.

“It’s gone completely insane,” bakery owner Kathleen Romano Lochel told WPIV-TV, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia. “It’s really just a cookie. Everyone can agree on a cookie. I think this is a great way to bring people together.”

Politicos find this race to be delicious already, but they would be disappointed to know that both cookies have the same ingredients, except for the coloring. It’s still a sweeter way for people to follow elections without all the distasteful criticisms.

The cookies have sold out by the afternoon on some days and drawn nationwide interest, with purchases from California to Minnesota. But in the bakery’s home of Pennsylvania, that swing state’s bakery vote went emphatically to Trump sweet tooths.

And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
