President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address was Tuesday night, making it the president’s second address to the nation since last September. The president touched on multiple topics including police reform, the war in Ukraine, China, the U.S. national debt, gun control and climate change.

However, the most entertaining portion of evening for viewers was when Biden shed the spotlight on Republican leaders regarding Medicare and Social Security stating, “Some of my Republican friends want to take the economy hostage unless I agree to their economic plans, all of you should know what those plans are – instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security sunset.” This was interrupted with a burst of fury from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) shouting, “Liar!” Other Republican leaders paired the outburst with disappointed head shakes, implying ‘NOs’ across the board.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted shortly after the address:

Biden was met with continued boos and jeers when he pointed out that 25% of the outstanding U.S. national debt was added under former President, Donald Trump. He responded with Congress having done the “right thing” by lifting the debt ceiling three times without pre-conditions or crisis. The debt ceiling deadline late this year looms over Washington, requiring Biden to negotiate with the newly elected Republican majority in the House.

Although the president’s remarks have drawn mixed reviews from the American people and his constituents, one thing the nation CAN agree on is that Biden was able to make a swift and steady speech from beginning to end.
