The first step was recognizing the fact that China was sending balloons into our airspace to spy on us. Next, we shot it down. The third part of this process is seeing what was inside of it so we can try to figure out what our No. 1 enemy is doing.

Our intelligence community has reportedly linked the spy balloon we took out to a more extensive surveillance program the Chines military is carrying out against a number one of foreign countries.

According to a story in the Washington Post, the balloon surveillance program is spying on military targets in India, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines. Their floating spy balloons have gone over five continents to see what is happening. These balloons are hard to trace because they fly at an altitude of 60,000 to 80,00 feet, well above commercial airplanes in the 35,000 altitude range.

When one of our planes shot down the balloon over the Atlantic Ocean, it was at 58,000 feet.

The balloon was recovered off the coast of South Carolina, and the pentagon immediately went to work examining it.

The amount of damage a balloon like that could do is staggering. It could potentially destroy satellites and electronic systems, taking out sanitation systems, water, and other services for months.

The Republican Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, is pushing for a “full briefing” for all members of Congress regarding the Spy balloon.
