You can call Shaquille O’Neal a lot of things, including:

  • NBA Hall of Fame
  • Famous pitchman
  • Larger than life personality
  • NBA analyst for TNT
  • Pop culture icon

Here’s a description that does not apply to Shaq; someone who’s interested in sharing his wealth with his kids. No, the Big Diesel is the Big Rejection if his kids come to him asking for money.

Why?  Well, Shaq pretty much sums it up rather succinctly like this.  “I tell them all the time, ‘We ain’t rich.  I’m rich.”

That might be putting it lightly, as Shaq’s net worth is estimated at somewhere around $400 million or so.

He talked about the family dynamics regarding his six kids and his money on the podcast Earn Your Leisure.  “They’re kind of upset with me, not really upset but they don’t understand.”

Shaq has made it clear to the kids that his money is his, and he’s not interested in parting with any of it for his kids to advance themselves.  They need to go to college, get a degree, and if they have a business idea they want to run by pops, well, book an appointment, get in line, and dazzle him with a business plan.

There’s one more thing that you can’t call Shaq any more.  A Celebrity. He told the New York Post that he wants no part of the weird wokeness of America’s celebrity culture.

“I don’t want to be in that category. Celebrities are crazy, they really are. Don’t call me that anymore. These people are out of their freaking mind with how they treat people, what they do, what they say. That’s never been me. I never want to be looked at like that.”
