According to Seth Rogen, he is more successful and he and wife, Lauren Miller ‘get to do whatever we want’ because they decided not to have kids.
Host Steven Bartlett asked Seth Rogen why he’s childless on the March 6 podcast episode of “The Diary Of A CEO.” Typically, a female-targeted inquiry, the Pineapple Express star shared his candid explanation as to why he decided to remain child-free.
The 40-year-old actor simply never thought that having kids would make him happy. He goes as far as to credit his lucrative acting career and celebrity status to the fact that he never started a family.
“There’s a whole huge thing I’m not doing, which is raising children. Some people want kids; some people don’t want kids.” Rogen went on to explain that many go through life by checking the boxes—marriage, naturally followed by having kids. He was “never like that” and according to the star, not joining the ranks of parenthood helped him succeed.
Dating since 2004 and married since 2011, Rogen and Miller are “reaffirmed” with their joint decision to not expand their family.
“We are smarter than we’ve ever been; we understand ourselves more than we ever have; we have the capacity to achieve a level of work and a level of communication and care for one another, and a lifestyle we can live with one another that we’ve never been able to live before.”
“Honestly, thank God we don’t have children–we get to do whatever we want,” he declared.
Rogen added that he and his wife are at the “prime of our lives” and enjoy the freedom that comes along with not having the duties of parenting.
As the saying goes “to each his own” and having children is certainly not for everyone. Rogen and Miller are happy to share a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Zelda.
