The war in Ukraine is entering a tense new period. With Ukraine turning the tide and reclaiming vast swaths of land that Vladimir Putin’s forces had taken earlier in the battle, Putin is becoming desperate, according to numerous reports, and his latest action seems to be a sign of it.

Thousands of Russian citizens are trying to flee the country to escape the partial mobilization of civilians into the military.  Russia said they are calling 300,000 “reservists” to immediate active duty, but people in the know say the number will be much higher.

Russian “recruiters” are going into smaller villages and towns in Russia and rounding up men, ordering them to report to military offices and begin the deployment process immediately.

In Ukraine, Russia is going into occupied regions and forcing Ukrainians living there to fight for the Russian army against their fellow citizens.

It’s an incredibly tense and dangerous period, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, made a personal appeal to Ukrainians who are being forced to fight against fellow Ukrainians.

He is calling for those conscripted to “sabotage any enemy activity.”

He spoke to Ukrainians in Russian-occupied regions in a video. According to an NBC report, he was very specific in his instructions, telling them to “hide” from mobilization and “avoid summons” of military commanders.

Here’s more of what Zelensky said in the video. \

“If you get into the Russian army, then sabotage any enemy activity, interfere with any Russian operations, give us all important information about the occupiers: their bases, headquarters, ammunition depots.”

It’s the first time Russia has mobilized reservists since World War II. There is a mad scramble for people trying to leave Russia from areas where Russian police have begun to round up men for military duty. The word is that Putin may close the border of Russia to stop citizens from trying to flee.
