The career of the world’s most prolific tweeter in history is officially over. Twitter announced on Friday that they are suspending President Trump’s Twitter account permanently.  “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company wrote in a blog post.

Now, if you’re saying to yourself, ‘didn’t Twitter just life their suspension of the President’s account on Thursday? And weren’t the tweets he sent out Thursday night and Friday pretty tame and docile for his standards? Well, yes, and yes, but Twitter didn’t care. “These two Tweets must be read in the context of broader events in the country and the ways in which the President’s statements can be mobilized by different audiences, including to incite violence, as well as in the context of the pattern of behavior from this account in recent weeks,” the company said. “After assessing the language in these Tweets against our Glorification of Violence policy, we have determined that these Tweets are in violation of the Glorification of Violence Policy and the user @realDonaldTrump should be immediately permanently suspended from the service.”

Trump is facing a temporary ban from Facebook that will last until Inauguration Day, so every major social media site is off limits for the President to share his thoughts or messages.

It’s long, sad and unbelievable fall from grace for the man who leveraged the power of social media better than any politician in world history. But it ultimately turned out to be part of his downfall.
