Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a former independent presidential candidate and now a supporter of Donald Trump, criticized President-elect Trump’s diet during a recent podcast appearance, describing it as “practically poison.” RFK, who has been advising Trump on health policy and is considered for a top health role in the administration, has expressed concerns about Trump’s regular consumption of fast food like KFC and Big Macs, as well as his preference for Diet Coke over water.
These comments were made during an interview on “The Joe Polish Show,” during which Kennedy also noted Trump’s lack of water intake as observed by close associates.

“The stuff that he eats is really, like, bad. Campaign food is always bad, but the food that goes onto that airplane is, like, just poison,” Kennedy said. “You have a choice between — you don’t have the choice, you’re either given KFC or Big Macs. That’s when you’re lucky, and then the rest of the stuff, I consider kind of inedible.”
“And then he [drinks] Diet Coke,” RFK continued. “I was with Dana White the other day … he’s very close to Trump, they’ve had a relationship for 20 years through UFC. He said that sometimes he’ll sit through a fight with Trump — and he’s [there for] five hours [during] the fight — and said he has never seen Trump drink a glass of water. Never.”
Despite these dietary concerns, Kennedy has been given a mandate by Trump to tackle America’s chronic disease epidemic. His potential influence over health and agriculture appointments has raised concerns among public health experts, who worry about the impact of his unorthodox views on health governance. Kennedy’s past support for anti-vaccine theories further fuels these apprehensions. However, he has yet to be given a concrete position within the administration.
