Would you be able to recognize California Governor Gavin Newsom without his trusty facemark? Remember when Times Square in New York City was dead as disco during the pandemic?

The uber-cautious leaders of blue states played it incredibly safe during the pandemic, costing them big time, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The data is out, confirming that Republican-led states were winning the economic recovery on multiple levels.

How about in jobs? The Brookings Institution analysis of Labor Department data points out that red states added 341,000 jobs since February 2020.  Blue states, such as California, New York, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, and others, were down 1.3 million jobs.

How about migration? The American Enterprise Institute reported that four of the states in the top ten list that gained the most new residents were Florida, Nevada, Tennessee, and Texas.  Do you know what they all have in common? No state income tax.

Tennessee, according to The Journal, is the state that led the entire country in economic growth last year and, as of April, had just 3.2% unemployment, the lowest ever in that state.

Of the 15 states that have returned to what was going on pre-pandemic regarding economic activity, 12 are led by Republican governors.

And this news should keep Joe Biden’s re-election team up at night; of the ten states reporting the lowest levels of activity since a month before the pandemic, seven are led by Democratic governors.
