The province of Quebec in Canada is pretty desperate to make sure every adult resident is vaccinated for COVID because they are going to some pretty aggressive lengths to make it happen.

The government will soon require proof of the jab to purchase alcohol or cannabis at government-funded stores.

The philosophy of government leaders is that if they limit places accessible to people who have not been vaccinated, the virus will be transmitted less frequently.

Health Minister Christian Dube wasn’t exactly subtle in announcing the new measure this week.

”If the unvaccinated aren’t happy with this situation, there is a very simple solution at your disposal. It is to get vaccinated. It’s free. “If you don’t want to get vaccinated, stay home.”

Get ready to start hearing the phrase “vaccination passport” in Canada and other countries around the world, where three doses, including a booster shot, will be required to do things that people living in a free society had kind of gotten used to.

Quebec is putting other restrictive measures in place, too, including a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in an attempt to slow down the spread.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of resistance and anger to the government’s plans.  The opposition leader of the Liberal Party accused the government of putting these radical restrictions into place and making other decisions that are based on politics instead of science.
