During Apple’s highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 (WWDC), the tech giant introduced its much-awaited mixed reality headset, the Apple Vision Pro.

Equipped with an array of cutting-edge features, the Vision Pro boasts five sensors, six microphones, and 12 cameras. The device harnesses the processing power of both Apple’s M2 chip and its innovative R1 chip.

Apple claims that the Vision Pro can operate all day when connected to a power source, but users will require a secondary battery pack for on-the-go use. The downside? the battery life only lasts a mere two hours on a single charge.

With the brand-new visionOS, users navigate the headset using their eyes, hands, and voice. An intriguing function known as EyeSight enables others to observe the user’s eyes through the Vision Pro’s external display.

Positioned as a “spatial computer,” the headset incorporates Apple’s first fully immersive 3-D interface, offering users the ability to scale apps within their physical environment. One standout feature, called Environments, transforms the surrounding room into a captivating, natural landscape.

Additionally, the headset supports Bluetooth accessories, and Apple briefly mentioned its gaming potential, revealing that around 100 Arcade app games will be integrated with the Vision Pro.

In an unexpected turn of events, Disney CEO Bob Iger took the stage to announce exclusive features tied to some of the company’s beloved intellectual properties, including Star Wars and Marvel. Moreover, Disney+ will be accessible on the Vision Pro.

One of the standout capabilities of the Apple Vision Pro is its 3-D camera, allowing users to capture three-dimensional photos and immerse themselves in the headset’s environment while revisiting those images.

The announcement revealed that Apple has filed approximately 5,000 patents related to the headset. The Apple Vision Pro will be priced starting at $3,499 and is scheduled for an early release next year.
