Authorities confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that reports of explosives found near Donald Trump’s rally at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island are unfounded. Police officials stated there was ‘no validity’ to claims circulating on social media about an explosive device discovered in a vehicle during security checks.

The rumors originated from a false report made by an individual with a bomb detection dog, who has since been detained for questioning. Both Nassau County Police and a senior Trump campaign source dismissed the allegations as ‘fake news.’
Officials clarified that while there was a response to a suspicious occurrence, no explosives were found.
